About Sherry S. Landry
Ms. Landry has represented political subdivisions, developers, lenders,
community development entities, underwriters and general business interests
in a variety of matters. She is experienced in New Markets Tax Credits,
Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, complex commercial real estate
transactions, private-public partnerships, partnership taxation, drafting
and negotiating contracts, municipal law, government investigations,
Stafford Act matters, formation and governance of limited liability
entities, corporate governance issues and commercial litigation.
Prior to joining the Elkins P.L.C., Ms. Landry served as the City Attorney
for the City of New Orleans. Prior to that, she spent five years in private
practice as a regulatory and transactional lawyer with a Texas-based
firm and two years as the senior judicial law clerk to the Honorable
Chief Justice Pascal F. Calogero, Jr. of the Louisiana Supreme Court.
While at Loyola Law School, Ms. Landry served as the Editor-in-Chief
of the Loyola Law Review, as an alternate on the National Moot Court
Team and as a member of the ATLA National Mock Trial Team. Ms. Landry
was also the recipient of numerous awards, including the Dean’s
Award for Highest First-Year Average; the Joseph V. Bologna Award for
Excellence in Civil Law Property; the Leon Sarpy Award for Excellence
in Louisiana Probate; Corpus Juris Secundum Awards for Torts, Property
and Criminal Law and Best Case Note, Loyola Law Review.
In 2001, Ms. Landry was recognized by New Orleans CityBusiness as a “Power
Generation” honoree. During the American Bar Association’s
2001 Annual Meeting, she was a panelist on the topic of “Optimizing
Your Career Potential: Learning Client Relationship Skills Through Mentoring.” Ms.
Landry is also the author of “Med-Arb: Mediation With a Bite and
an Effective ADR Model,” 63 Defense Counsel Journal 263 (1996).
